Crossroads to Freedom
Thirteen original songs, written and performed entirely by Chris. Delta dust, Chicago drive, jazz harmony and psychedelic guitar all meet on one record.
About the record
Thirteen originals, one multi-instrumentalist
Crossroads to Freedom is a starting point for Chris Dair’s blues writing as well as his guitar playing. Its thirteen original songs bring together Delta and Chicago blues, blues rock, jazz harmony and psychedelic guitar. Chris wrote, performed, recorded and produced the album, playing guitars, bass, harmonica and jaw harp himself.
The tracklist opens with No Reason Blues and includes See the Stars, the extended title track, Goldwater Mountain and Lost in Wasted Time. In his story Just saying…, Chris discusses playing complete performances rather than assembling a piece from loops or samples, and specifically recalls recording Lost in Wasted Time in one take.
